Overview

Communicard is a visual communication tool designed to support deaf adults living in shelters. The system uses simple icons and structured layouts to help users communicate needs quickly and clearly in environments where verbal communication can be a barrier.

Challenge

Many shelter systems rely heavily on verbal communication, creating barriers for deaf individuals. The challenge was to design a tool that could communicate essential needs clearly, quickly, and without reliance on spoken language.

Strategy

The design focuses on clarity, simplicity, and ease of use. A consistent icon system and structured layout allow users to point, gesture, or reference information quickly, making communication more accessible in real-world situations.
